Packing for a Multi-City Trip
Pack light — you’re moving between cities. One carry-on bag saves $30-50 per domestic flight.
Essentials:
- Light, breathable layers (summer everywhere, but CDMX evenings are cool)
- Rain jacket (June = rainy season, afternoon storms)
- Comfortable walking shoes
- Sunscreen SPF 50 (especially for Monterrey — 35°C+)
- Portable charger (you’ll drain your phone with maps, rideshare, and FAN ID)
- Reusable water bottle
- eSIM (buy before departure — $10-15 for 5GB)
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I do all three cities in a week?
Technically yes, but it’s rushed. You’d get 2 days per city with travel days eating into your time. The 10-day itinerary is much more enjoyable. If you only have 7 days, do 2 cities.
What order should I visit the cities?
CDMX → GDL → MTY makes the most sense geographically and for acclimatization (CDMX’s altitude is highest, so adjust there first). But match schedules should ultimately determine your order.
Should I buy an open-jaw international flight?
Yes — if you’re doing a multi-city trip, fly into your first city and out of your last. Saves a backtrack flight. Most airlines support multi-city bookings.
Is it safe to travel between cities?
Yes. Domestic flights are standard. ETN/Primera Plus buses are safe, modern, and well-maintained. The toll highways between cities are in good condition.
